COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
LAMP, FLUORESCENT
(F40CWX/RS, ENERGY SAVING)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This description covers 34/35 watt, rapid-start type, energy saving fluorescent lamps.
Salient characteristics:
Bulb- T-12
Nominal overall length- 48 inches
Base- medium bipin
Average rated life- three hours per start- 20,000 hours
Initial lumens (after 100 hours burning)- 2,000 lumens
Lumens at 40 percent of life- 1,660 lumens
Colors- cool white deluxe
Designed to operate on one-or two-lamp lead circuit, high power factor 40 watt rapid-start indoor ballasts that meet ANSI C82.1 and UL 935 requirements, and in ambient temperature of not less than 18oC (65oF).
Dimensional characteristics shall be in accordance with ANSI C78.1.
The issues of ANSI C78.1, ANSI C82.1, and UL Standard 935 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
Workmanship. There shall be no defects that affect the serviceability or performance.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.

UL standards are available from Underwriter’s Laboratories, Inc., 333 Pfingsten Road, Northbrook, IL 60062.
