4. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order (see 5.2).
5. Notes.
5.1 Address for obtaining copies of reference document. SAE J1383, is available from Society of Automotive Engineers, Inc., 400 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, PA 15096.
5.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents must specify the following.
a. Title, number and date of the Commercial Item Description.
b. Issue of DODISS to be cited in the solicitation, and if required, the specific issue of individual documents referenced (see 5. 1).
c. Part or identification number [PIN (see 5.3)].
d. selection of applicable level and packaging requirements (see 4 ).
5.3 Part or identifying number (PIN). The PIN number to be used for headlamps acquired to this CID is A 52400-6015 (see 5.2).
5.4 Cross-reference data. Headlamps conforming to this document are interchangeable/substitutable with headlampe conforming to MS18009D (National Stock Number (NSN) 6240-00-752-2424) (see figure 1).
5.5 Regulatory requirements. The Offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
5.6 Metric product. Headlamps that are to metric dimensions will be considered on the following basis:
a. Products manufactured to metric dimensions will be considered on an equal basis with those manufactured using inch-pound units, providing they fall within the tolerance specified using conversion tables contained in the latest revision of Federal Standard 376, and all other requirements of this document are met.
b. If a product is manufactured to metric dimensions and those dimensions exceed the tolerances specified in the inch/pound units, a request should be made to the contracting officer to determine if the product is acceptable.
c. The contracting officer has the option of accepting or rejecting the product.
6. International interest. Certain provisions of this CID (see figure 1) are the subject of international standardization agreements (ASCA QSTAG-20S and NATO STANAG 4005). When amendment, revision, or cancellation of this commercial item description is proposed that will modify the international agreement concerned, the preparing activity will take appropriate action through international standardization channels, including departmental standardization offices, to change the agreement or make other appropriate accommodations.
