COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
LAMP BULBS, INCANDESCENT, MINIATURE, SINGLE AND
DOUBLE CONTACT, BAYONET CANDELABRA BASE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item
description (CID) for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This CID covers requirements for four types of miniature incandescent lamps used in
military ground vehicles.
2. CLASSIFICATION. Miniature lamp bulbs shall be of the following types (see 7.3):
Type I
-
Instrument light.
Type II
-
Auto light.
Type III
-
Stop, tail light.
Type IV
-
Reading light.
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
3.1 Materials. Materials shall be corrosion resistant or suitably treated to resist corrosion caused
by fuel, salt spray, or atmospheric conditions as may be encountered in storage or normal service.
The use of recovered material made in compliance with regulatory requirements is acceptable
providing that all requirements of this CID are met (see 4.1).
3.1.1 Dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals shall not be used in extremely close contact or having
direct contact with each other unless protected against galvanic corrosion.
3.2 Design and construction. The lamps shall be designed as illustrated in figures 1 through 4.
Unless otherwise specified herein, the lamp base shall be constructed in accordance with current
ANSI C81.61.
